What better way to spend a cold evening than to warm up over some hot, hot, spicy hot, Szechuan food in downtown Montreal? Never had I seen a larger congregation of Chinese people, all speaking mandarin, all here for some traditional Szechuan cuisine.
And indeed it was.
I can’t remember the last time I had Szechuan. We ordered Spicy Eggplant, Ma Po Tofu (Szechuan style is 10000x spicier than Canton-style of course!), and Lamb Casserole Hot Pot. (I’m listing the dishes, in the order of spicyness — hot, hotter and hottest!) Unfortunately they didn’t have Beer, because that would have REALLY hit the spot. I drank A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of water instead.
Side Note: I still haven’t had a drink since October 17th. Will I manage to reach 30 whole days of sobriety? I sure hope not!
Tomorrow’s visit to Marche Jean-Talon shall bring some back some memories from 2 years ago, although I did have to read my own blog post from 2 years ago to realize I’ve already been.
